Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia heads to Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend for Round 5 of the 2026 season, with the championship battle entering its crucial late-season phase.
Taking place this weekend as part of the Liqui Moly GT Festival Sydney, the penultimate round will see a field of 17 cars return to 3.93km circuit.
Fresh off his maiden round win in Townsville, Kobi Williams currently leads the Pro championship by just 16 points over young kiwi Hunter Robb.
A strong weekend from TekworkX Motorsport’s Lincoln Taylor could also see him in contention for the title when we get to the final round, he’s currently third in points, some 54 points off Williams.
Xavier Avramides is the first driver inside the top 5 without a round win to his name. All four rounds this year have produced four different round winners, Robb, James Lodge, Taylor and Williams respectively.
Pro-Am has been dominated by Anthony Gilbertson, winning all four rounds. Another consistent weekend for the McElrea Racing driver will ensure he claims the championship with one round to go.
Stephen Moylan is the only one who could stop him, but is looking to bounce back after getting caught up in the opening lap crash at Townsville in race 2.
Tim Farrell, who’s currently third in points, will return to the category this weekend, following his debut in Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia at Queensland Raceway in August.
Last year it was a weekend of firsts at Sydney Motorsport Park, with Lockie Bloxsom, Tom Bewley and James Lodge all claiming their maiden Porsche wins. Meanwhile Jacque Jarjo secured his first round win in Pro-Am.
The Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge field will hit the track at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend with 2 practice sessions on Friday, qualifying and race 1 on Saturday, with races 2 and 3 rounding out the weekend on Sunday.
All 3 races will be broadcast on Fox Sports & Kayo.
