HUNTER ROBB has claimed his third win of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge season, sweeping to the lead from fourth on the grid in the opening race at Queensland Raceway on Friday afternoon.
Robb’s superb launch saw him round up Lincoln Taylor, Daniel Quimby and polesitter Hayden Haikal to rocket to the race lead – one he’d never lose.
He then edged away from the field and survived a late-race Safety Car to claim the third win of the season and return to the championship lead he held following round one.
Haikal dropped back following a slow start, but recovered well and spent much of his race battling Quimby for second – before sending a move up the inside of turn three on the final lap of the race. That saw Quimby wide and ultimately off the circuit and failing to finish.
That elevated Lincoln Taylor to third position aboard his TekworkX machine, erstwhile championship leader Xavier Avramides finishing fourth having been passed by Taylor late in the race.
A personal best result of fifth highlighted an outstanding performance from Lincoln Taylor, the Queenslander fending off a late charge from Kobi Williams.
Williams had only just made the start of the race after technical issues in qualifying saw him last of the Pro cars and outside the top 10.
14th at the end of lap one, the two-time 2026 race winner methodically worked his way through the field and had climbed to eighth prior to a late-race and brief Safety car to extract Diesel Thomas from the sand trap at turn two.
Williams then passed two more cars to end up sixth in a strong salvage effort.
Ryan Suhle finished seventh, Kamal Mrad eighth and Pro-Am winner Anthony Gilbertson a strong ninth outright, with Ruari Avern rounding out the top-10.
Stephen Moylan was second in Pro-Am once again while Tim Farrell picked up where he left off in South Australia, to finish third.
Quimby and Dean Wanless were the only two non-finishers in the otherwise flat-out sprint.
Two further races complete round three of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge tomorrow at Queensland Raceway, both shown live on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
